Each Wednesday join our Sommelier and GM Tim Rawding for a Marsh House Bar takeover!
“Every Wednesday, I will pull some of my favorite wines from our cellar at Marsh House to pour by the glass. I am excited to share with you wines that aren’t often available to taste, and to have conversations that lead to... well, opening more bottles! During the month of October I will be pouring wines from one of my favorite producers in all of California, if not all the winemaking world, Steve Matthiasson. Steve is a farmer. He starts in the vineyard by farming beautiful grapes and then he lets those grapes do the talking in the bottle. Steve and his wife Jill have an affinity for the wines of Friuli in Northeast Italy and they have successfully bottled several of their own interpretations. We hope you can join us as we pop some incredible, rare bottlings of Matthiasson wines this October.”
This week featuring: Matthiasson Lagrein Lone Pine Vineyard, El Dorado 2015
Today’s Italian varietal on display is Lagrein. As we mentioned earlier this month, the Matthiassons love that northern Italian juice. Steve Matthiasson is taking inspiration from the Italian Alps by pulling his Lagrein grapes from the mountainous vineyards of the Sierra Foothills in eastern California. The Lagrein grape is powerfully fragrant and punchy on the palate. At $15 a glass, the opportunities for food and wine pairings are endless at Marsh House this Wednesday.
