“Every Wednesday, I will pull some of my favorite wines from our cellar at Marsh House to pour by the glass. I am excited to share with you wines that aren’t often available to taste, and to have conversations that lead to... well, opening more bottles! During the month of April we are focusing on a grape varietal that I haven’t always had the greatest relationship with. Grenache is a grape that is best known for its leading role in Chateauneuf du Pape, the historic region in the Southern Rhone. My issue with Grenache has always been when winemakers build too much ripeness, which yields too much alcohol and loses the freshness from high acidity. But we are grateful for a handful of wineries, among many others, that honor the bright fruit and velvety structure of Grenache. Let us introduce you to our favorite renditions of Grenache this month, that may or may not be what you expected.”

The rockstar winemakers at Ochota Barrels were blasting some hardcore punk from the band Fugazi when they stumbled upon the vineyard that has yielded this bottling of Grenache.
